The Santa Clarita based company Project Books was founded in 2011. Since then, they’ve continuously helped numerous people gain books that they otherwise might not be able to afford, and others donate books that are no longer in use.
Donating Books
The founder of the non-profit organization, Maria Decker, founded the company after seeing books piled up in dumpsters. Decker worked at public libraries in Santa Clarita and Glendale, so she knows just how impactful and satisfying a good book can be. Despite the company’s small group of staff, they’ve helped numerous different individuals and organizations to help spread the happiness brought on by reading. She’s built Project Books around the fundamental idea that the “joys of reading should be shared, and not ended by a landfill.”
If you’re too far from a library, or can’t afford reading material from a book store, Project Books can deliver a great read at no cost. In the past, their books have been delivered to high schools, colleges, senior centers, festivals, and homes too. Their work spans across Southern California, including Santa Clarita and other members in LA County, along with Berkley, Lancaster, and Palmdale areas. All books and deliveries are free and easy to obtain with their online contact options.
Project Books wants to primarily help spread the gift of reading. They’ll take books from any individual willing to donate, and offer tax deductibles with every donation. They accept all books, of any genre, and would love to take your old children’s books off your hands too.
