The Los Angeles Office of Emergency Management that services the Santa Clarita Valley has five divisions comprised of administrative staff and specialists that work with city departments, municipalities and an array of community-based organizations to ensure that the City and its residents have the resources and information they need to prepare, respond and recover from emergencies, disasters and significant events that can affect their communities. The EMD constantly monitors their communities to make sure they are always ready for events that could trigger their assistance.
Preparing For Emergency in Santa Clarita
The Administrative Services division develops, prepares, and administers the annual EOF and EMD budgets. Assists EMD management in addressing labor relations issues, resolves personal matters and facilitates and coordinates the hiring process. Serves as liaison to county, state, federal and local non-profit agencies.
Community preparedness and engagement division works with neighborhood associations, schools, faith-based organizations and other community groups to promote the importance of emergency management. Coordinates Emergency Operations Center community outreach programs. Participates in fairs, expos and community meetings. Distribute brochures and other educational material for emergency situations that can affect the community.
The Operational Readiness division is responsible for ensuring the EMD and the city EOC are ready to coordinate and support emergency response activities at all times. It is responsible for ensuring the operational readiness of the City’s Emergency Operations center and alternate EOC’s. This includes coordinating EOC activations. Ensuring constant readiness for the Emergency Operations Center. Staffing, securing access, managing information and maintaining communications system for all EOC and alternate EOC facilities. Public information before, during and after emergencies.
The Planning division maintains the City’s Emergency Operations Plans, coordinates Department Emergency Plans, and consults on Department Standard Operating Procedures. This division is critical in keeping an open line of communication with all services that would need to be accessed in case an emergency situation happen.

The Training and Exercise division develops trainings and exercises to ensure that emergency responders in the field and at the Emergency Operation Center are ready to coordinate and support emergency response. This division is always on alert and ready to act at a moment notice to ensure the safety of the community.
