Castaic Lake Animal Shelter
The Castaic Animal Shelter is a branch of the County of Los Angeles Department of Animal Care and Control. It provides animal care services to 6 contract cities and 15 unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County, including the Santa Clarita Valley. This shelter offers a wide variety of potential pets for adoption, in addition to pet licensing, vaccinations, microchips, and low-cost spaying and neutering.
When the County of Los Angeles Department of Animal Care and Control (DACC) was formed in 1937, stray dogs running throughout the community not only posed a significant risk to the public, a danger was posed to the animal as well. The DACC has evolved with the thriving Los Angeles County to provide protection, safety, and comfort for both animals and humans. As a member of this agency, the Castaic Animal Care Center performs many vital animal care services: rescuing strays and distressed, injured, or sick animals; verifying compliance of mandatory microchips, vaccination and pet licensing laws, investigating reports of animal cruelty, abuse, neglect, and illegal animal fighting; and reuniting lost pets with their families. The shelter works with dogs, cats, reptiles, livestock, and many more animals. Its staff is dedicated to providing excellence in animal care, which involves finding good homes with loving owners for adoption.

When You Adopt A Pet, You Bring Home A New Family Member
There are many benefits to adopting from the Castaic Animal Care Center in the Santa Clarita Valley. All adoptable animals from this shelter are vaccinated against common diseases, micro-chipped, and are spayed or neutered. A free post-adoption veterinary exam is also included when you give a pet a new, forever home, to take place at participating Southern California Veterinary Medical Association locations. Castaic Animal Care Center attempts to be as accurate as possible when identifying an animal’s breed, and updates their list of occupants as often as possible, so you have the best chance of finding the pet for you. Additionally, the courteous staff and volunteers make every effort to get to know each animal on a personal basis so they can guide you in selecting the right pet for you, your family, and your lifestyle.
When you adopt an animal from the Castaic Animal Care Center, your kindness will be repaid countless times over by the love and affection of your new family member. The shelter also performs several vital services to ensure the safety and welfare of strays, rescues, and pets. As a member of the County of Los Angeles Department of Animal Care and Control, one of the largest and most progressive control agencies in the United States, Castaic Animal Care Center is proud to serve residents of the Santa Clarita Valley.
