Project Books
Do you have books that you haven’t read in a long time? Would you like to free up space in your home by getting rid of extra paperbacks, textbooks, and reference books? Don’t throw them away! Donate your books to a good cause: Project Books is a non-profit organization that puts books in the hands of those who otherwise might not be able to afford them. They serve the Santa Clarita Valley and greater Los Angeles County, as well as the city of Berkeley on occasion.
Founded in 2011 in the Santa Clarita Valley, Project Books was formed when Marcia Decker came upon several books that a library had been placed in the dumpster, due to the hassle of moving them elsewhere. With more than 2 million books thrown away each year, Marcia decided to start a foundation that would work to prevent the joys of reading from being lost to a landfill. To Project Books, the joys of reading should be shared, and the organization accomplishes this with regular appearances at events in the Santa Clarita Valley area and partnerships with school in the community. Project Books has worked with Santa Clarita’s hometown station KHTS, Golden Valley High School, College of the Canyons, The Santa Clarita Kids Expo, The Literacy and Arts Festival, and many more to place books into the hands of people that want them.

Donating To Project Books Is Easy!
Project Books accepts donations from individuals, private companies, and organizations. To donate to Project Books, you can contact them by phone or email to schedule a pickup or drop off. Children’s books are especially appreciated, and all donations are tax deductible. On the website and on their Facebook, you can stay informed of the organization’s upcoming activities and appearances.
Don’t delay – donating to Project Books is easy! Bookstores have survived in the age of e-readers because the demand for print books still co-exists with the demand for digital media. Print books provide the benefits of reading for a substantial portion of your community, who may not have regular access to a speedy internet connection or media tablet. In the information age, knowledge is truly a sign of power, and Project Books aspires to make this power easily shared and readily available to everyone. Contact Project Books to donate today!
