When living in a city, it can be difficult to connect with nature and get away from all of the hustle and bustle of life. If nature is what you seek within Santa Clarita, then the Placerita Canyon Nature Center is where you should go. The location is located just outside Santa Clarita, making it the prime location for all of your outdoor desires.
Placerita Canyon is one of the most ideal places for hiking within the Santa Clarita Valley with its hiking trails filled with all sorts of plants and animals. Many trees offer shaded areas for you to walk under when it gets hot and it has good destinations to reach, such as a seasonal waterfall or the top of the Santa Clarita Divide. The latter may be a long walk, but it would all be worth it by the end due to its magnificent view. If you wish to visit the Placerita Canyon Nature Center yet do not wish to go on a hike, they offer a wide variety of other forms of entertainment.
One of the main features of the nature center is the animals right outside of the building. The animals include hawks, owls, and more which are all rescues found in the wild. Inside of the Placerita Canyon Nature Center, there is a variety of attractions such as a section for reptiles, a gift shop, and little exhibits showing off the ecosystem of the area around Santa Clarita. These exhibits show animals, landscapes, and plants in the area to make it look as realistic as possible. It is a place to both experience nature and learn about the wilderness around it. Yet if you don’t wish to go outside but wish to see nature, Placerita Canyon Nature Center offers a virtual hike known as ‘Let’s Go On a Hike.’ It is approximately 22 minutes long, taking you around the trails of the nature center to experience it in the virtual world.
